Cartoon superhero Captain America's real-life stylist insists Mad men star Jon Hamm is the only actor who can play the colourful Marvel Comics character.

Ryan Phillippe and Chris Evans have emerged as frontrunners for the coveted role, but the artist who redesigned Captain America for Marvel tells Entertainment Weekly magazine the list of wannabes up for the part does not impress him.

Alex Ross says, "We've been saying for years, if you don't sign Jon Hamm to play this part, you're crazy.

"Captain America is supposed to be the patriarch of the Marvel universe. To get a guy in his early to mid-20s is only thinking about where the character began, not what he ultimately needs to become."

Taylor Swift’s six-times-Platinum FEARLESS album was officially recognized as the Most Awarded Album in the History of Country Music last night at a private dinner in Nashville.

FEARLESS is the only album in history to win the all-genre Album of The Year GRAMMY, plus Country Album of the Year Awards from the GRAMMYs, the Country Music Association, the Academy of Country Music and the American Music Awards.

Representatives from NARAS, The American Music Awards, The Country Music Association, and the Academy of Country Music all joined Big Machine Records Group President/CEO Scott Borchetta for an unprecedented group presentation honoring Taylor for her achievement.

FEARLESS, released in 2008, has won every album award in the country music genre, and was named all-genre Album of the Year at the 2010 GRAMMY Awards. Taylor, who turned 20 in December, was the youngest artist in history to win the music industry’s coveted top prize and she is also the award’s first-ever solo female country winner, and the first solo female winner in more than a decade. Taylor wrote or co-wrote every song on FEARLESS.

Simon Cowell is hosting a weekend brain-storming session at his LA mansion to discuss how to keep the programme on top in the ratings war.

And chief casualty of the crunch talks is likely to be pregnant Dannii, who has been on the judging panel since 2008 when she replaced Sharon Osbourne, 57. Sources say it is now “highly unlikely” she will appear in the new series of ITV1’s talent show this year.

The source said: “Simon and his team are very wary of getting into the sort of problems the BBC has had with its female stars over age and so on. For that reason, the best option is being seen as reverting to the three judges this year. That means the seat is open for Dannii to return at a future date, although it is unlikely.”

Producers said the annual brainstorming session in Hollywood was aimed at making the hit show even bigger and better. Before heading to the LA meeting, executive producer Richard Holloway, 60, said the summit would “kickstart debate about new ideas for the show”.

An X Factor spokeswoman confirmed last night: “There is a meeting going on but it is too early to comment on what is being decided.”

DANNII IS QUEEN OF THE DANCE FLOOR, HOW CAN THEY DO THIS? She's so much more fresh than simon and that other guy.

This is the first starring role for Mad Men's Jon Hamm, who could be on the verge of becoming a movie star. There are many more example of tv stars attempting a career in the movies and failing than making the transition smoothly . It's still early, but Hamm has the screen presence to at least have a solid career in the movies, even if he isn't the next George Clooney.

Tom Cruise and Katie Holmes hit the hot tub last night.

Well, the premiere of Hot Tub Time Machine, to be exact. TomKat were surprise guests (even to the movie's star John Cusack) at the screening of a movie about a group of guys who travel back to the '80s via their magic hot tub.

According to Rob Corddry and Craig Robinson, Tom was even texting them his review during the movie...

Rob and Craig told E! News Tom was "constantly texting them during the movie saying how funny it was."  Seems a little rude to be on the phone during the movie, but at least he was sending compliments!

It sounds like this flick must have been Tom's pick. How long until Katie takes him to The Last Song?

I would love to have witnessed this.  The picture, which came from the source, was not from the premiere and I could not find a picture of them at the premiere.  But I did notice that Tommy Lee and several cast members of The Office were there, so this movie is clearly very classy.

Even despite some controversy, Final Fantasy XIII is selling well.

Square Enix sent word today that the RPG has sold more than a million units in North America, in the five days following its March 9 launch. This makes it set the record for the best first-week sales in Final Fantasy history, which is no small feat considering the pedigree.

The name still carries a lot of weight, even as the game is facing some negative feedback based on its departure from the traditional tropes of Japanese RPGs.

Chris Evans is one step closer to the role of Captain America.

Sources tell us the actor, who once donned superhero garb in two "Fantastic Four" movies, has been offered the role of Captain America.

Marvel has not confirmed the development and CAA, which reps the actor, declined to comment.

Evans' offer would include starring in up to three "America" movies plus "The Avengers" movies and appearances in several other Marvel movies. While an offer to star in "America" may seem like something you don't have to mull over too long, one possible complication is that Evans is committed to co-starring in the Anna Faris romantic comedy "What's Your Number?" Both are scheduled to shoot this summer.
